I, Dr. Praveen Chandra Srivastava, have contributed more than 30 years of my life to the field of education as a teacher at various levels. I have taught at post-graduate level, graduate level, secondary level and elementary level, gaining extensive experience across diverse educational environments.
Over the years, I developed a strong desire to share my vast teaching experience in a new role—that of a Career Counselor—so that students may benefit from informed, unbiased and structured career guidance.
My academic background spans multiple disciplines. I have pursued education in:
• Engineering (Civil Engineering)
• Science (M.Sc. in Physics)
• Literature (M.A. in English Literature)
• Education (M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Education)
This multidisciplinary academic journey, combined with my long teaching experience, enables me to understand students from diverse academic backgrounds and assess their abilities holistically. Therefore, I believe I am well-equipped and suitable for this role as a Career Counselor.
I would also like to share my personal experience, which strongly motivates my work in this field. I myself have been a victim of the lack of proper career counseling. Despite being a very bright student and a class topper at the school level, and coming from a poor family background, my parents decided my career path for me by choosing engineering—without considering my aptitude, interest or inherent abilities.
After completing my engineering education from a reputed institution, I realized that engineering was not aligned with my true potential. I discovered that I could perform far better and find deeper satisfaction in the field of teaching. As a result, I consciously changed my educational and professional path.
I completed my post-graduation in Physics and English, followed by B.Ed. and M.Ed., and joined the teaching profession. However, due to the absence of proper career counseling at the right time, I experienced significant struggle, emotional stress and a substantial wastage of time and potential.
This personal journey has deeply influenced my mission. I do not want any other student to suffer in the same way. I aspire to serve society by becoming a dedicated and effective Career Counselor, helping students make informed decisions that align with their aptitude, interest and personality, thereby enabling them to lead successful and fulfilling lives.
