Surabhi Rawat, the founder of TrueNorth Consulting, is a passionate educator and career counselor with a rich and diverse background in the education sector. Her journey spans over a decade of experience across various educational settings in India and abroad. With a strong academic foundation—a Master’s degree in Science and a Bachelor’s in Education—Surabhi has evolved from traditional teaching methodologies to adopting and advocating innovative, learner-centered approaches.
Her professional path has been shaped by her roles in multiple cities across India. In New Delhi, she served as an educational consultant for an online tutoring and test prep center, and later as a researcher and Good Food Program Coordinator with Navdanya, a prominent NGO. A brief tenure at Deens Academy, Bangalore, introduced her to contemporary, child-focused pedagogies, further deepening her understanding of effective teaching.
Surabhi’s most impactful professional growth took place at Fountainhead School, an IB World School in Surat, where she fully embraced the International Baccalaureate philosophy. Here, she led the Learning Enrichment Program (LEAP)—a pilot initiative aimed at fostering critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, and logical reasoning skills in students. She also facilitated teacher workshops on renowned thinking methodologies including de Bono’s CoRT tools, Harvard’s Project Zero visible thinking routines, and Design for Change.
Her commitment to educational innovation and reflective practice earned her the Global Teacher Accreditation Award from the British Council in collaboration with University College London (UCL), in recognition of her Action Research on the use of thinking tools and visible thinking routines in the classroom.
A lifelong learner, Surabhi has pursued continuous professional development through global courses such as "Student Thinking at the Core" (Vanderbilt University), "Critical Thinking in Global Challenges" (The University of Edinburgh), and "Creative Problem Solving" (University of Minnesota). These credentials reflect her dedication to staying at the forefront of educational advancements.
Surabhi’s motivation to establish TrueNorth Consulting stems from both professional and personal experiences. As an IB educator and parent navigating different educational systems across countries, she understands firsthand the complexities families face when making critical decisions about subjects, careers, courses, countries, and universities. Her empathetic approach, combined with extensive research and international certifications in educational consultancy, positions her uniquely to guide students and families with clarity and confidence.
At TrueNorth, Surabhi brings her passion, global perspective, and deep-rooted commitment to empowering students on their educational and career journeys—helping them find their own "true north."
