corona or career

COVID-19 has created havoc in the last 2 months. It is the topic that dominates headline universally.  These are tough times. But as it has been rightly said

“Tough times don’t last, but tough people do.”

It’s in the time of crisis that you realize the tools you have to battle it. With a large part of the world is locked down, the rise in digital platforms, digitization of traditional trends etc is increasing.

Traditional gyms are posting online workout session, concerts are being hosted on video, sales teams are now turning to market for a lead generation more than ever to combat the current situation.

As humans, we find a way to overcome any adversity and in my opinion, there is a solution to every problem.

So how can you manage your career during this crisis?

There are 2 sides to a coin. Either you can crib about the situation or you can use this time to upgrade and upskill yourselves.

1. Don’t push the panic button

News18.com: India may lose up to 13.6 crore jobs in post-pandemic economic upheaval.

I am sure day after day, reading thes kind of news will impact anyone in this entire world. So the first thing you should do is stop watching the news over and over again and don’t panic.

Focus on what you can do rather than getting affected by the external factor. These are strange times and it might become stranger if you keep overthinking and overanalyzing.

You are going to get through this if you manage your stress well.

2. Upskill and Upgrade yourself

During these situations, online training or online classes are like a blessing in disguise.

-Do that course what you wanted to do.

-Enrol for a new program.

- Get certified from a premium institute.

-Increase your value.

-Utilize and plan your time well.

-Take a small step forward each and every day.

- The more you focus on the things you have to do, the less likely you are going to feel anxious about the current situation.

-Upgrading and upskilling yourself is probably the best thing you can do in this situation.

Don’t wait. Take action and things will follow.

3.Focus on your mental health

Remember, while you were working a month back, you used to be so busy that you never gave time to yourself.

This is the right time to meditate for 10 mins morning and evening. A happy and calm mind will make you more creative and let you deal with this situation in an effective way. Don’t get anxious.

4. Identify your ideal career path

This is perhaps the most important thing. How many times have you heard your friends complain about their jobs? How many times have you seen your colleagues dissatisfied with their current job?

We all are confused at some point or other and there is no harm in accepting it. If you want to switch your career and need career guidance, it is high time that you get career counselling done.

You don’t have to step out of your house to do so. There are online career counselling platforms available which are ready to help you out in this dire situation.

Take advantage of the opportunities available to you.

5. Get Prepared

As you know that many people are getting unemployed and the recession has already come. So,

Are you ready to face the world after this pandemic ends?

Do you have the necessary skillsets to survive in the corporate?

If no, then it’s the time to accelerate yourself. Prepare yourself now so that your future thanks you.

Learn something new to update yourself depending on the domain you are in.

Analyze your skills, interests and work hard towards it.

Polish your resume, start working on your personality.

Grow your network.

Bridge the skill gaps.

This is a crucial time for all of us. We all can get through this.
