A career in product design offers you an opportunity to make a real impact. The process of nurturing a design, from the early concept stages to a commercially viable solution suitable for mass manufacture, can also give product designers a great amount of job satisfaction.

A Product Designer of a company is responsible for the user experience of a product, which usually includes taking direction on the business goals and objectives from product management. Product Designers are typically associated with the visual or tactile aspects of a product but sometimes they can also play a role in the information architecture and system design of a product.

Some common terms by which Product Designers are also referred to are User Experience Designer, User Interface Designer, Customer Experience Architect, Interaction Designer, or Information Architect. This depends upon the type of the company, its size, and diversity of the design department and the designer's area of expertise. Some companies also outsource Product Designers and hire them on project to project basis, thus relying on outside consultants and agencies for this function.

LPU offers M.Design (Product and Industrial) which is a 2 yrs. (4 Semesters) Programme. The course enhances the abilities of the students in designing the products. Through an M. Des degree, you can specialize and research in various disciplines like Craft, Textiles, Publications, Media, Lifestyle Products, Graphics and User Experience Design etc.

LPU is much better than any other University. LPU offers B. Design(Product & Industrial) 4 year, 8 semester course

In order to produce a diverse and inclusive base of design professionals, product and industrial design degree offers the relevant skills through sound conceptual foundations and intensive studio work using emerging technologies and interdisciplinary exposure. Further, the programme provides a choice of interdisciplinary minor areas of specialization and opportunities to connect with industry through visits and internships to broaden the horizon of design thinking and professional work options. The students are moulded to be absorbed in the industry as product/industrial, UI/UX designers, fulfilling the requirements of varied sectors such as gaming and toy design, automotive, robotics, industrial equipment machinery and automation, communication technology and packaging keeping in mind sustainable practices, industrial processes, ergonomics and ethical issues by inquiring critically through research to enhance the user experience/efficiency of the systems.

Eligibility Criteria (Qualifying Exam): Pass with 50% aggregate marks in 10+2 (with English) or equivalent, subject to qualifying LPUNEST or UCEED or Under Graduate NID DAT (Prelims) or Under Graduate NIFT. For a candidate, who has not studied English as a subject, the condition of English may be waived off provided the candidate in his qualifying exam has studied in English medium. (5% relaxation to North-East states and Sikkim candidates or Defence Personnel and their Dependents or Wards of Kashmiri Migrants)

Admission Criteria: Merit in qualifying examination, subject to fulfilling eligibility criteria.
