Robots are machines that can be used to do a defined task.  Robotics engineer deal with the conception, design, manufacture, and operation of robots.

Most robots are "manipulators"—machines devised to function in place of a human.

Most robots are used in automobile industries to perform repetitive tasks. An automated robotic arm is used in the auto-manufacturing industry for multiple industrial applications like painting, welding, assembly of parts etc.

Some robots are also programmed to make simple decisions.

Example: Hanson robotics Sophia, Mayfield robotics Kuri,  Stanford university snake robot,  and Boston dynamics handle are few of the famous examples under the field of robotics.
